A tragic incident has rocked Nakuru County as a young girl, Beauty Njoki, a Form Two student, was found dead in a thicket after she went missing earlier this month. The shocking discovery was made on June 4, after the girl failed to return home from school.
Beauty, only 16 years old, had left her home early in the morning around 5:30 a.m. to attend school. When she did not come back in the evening, her mother, Naomi Wanjiku, grew increasingly worried.
Ms. Wanjiku recalled waiting anxiously for her daughter, hoping she would walk through the door. When Beauty did not show up, Ms. Wanjiku called her brother to check if Beauty had possibly gone to her aunt’s house, but she was not there either.
The next day, Ms. Wanjiku learned from Beauty’s friends and teachers that she never arrived at school. The alarmed mother quickly filed a missing person report at the Maili Saba Police Station.
This sparked a frantic search involving family members and neighbors who combed through the nearby areas for any sign of the missing teenager.
Their search came to a tragic end when they found Beauty’s belongings scattered in a nearby thicket. Her shoes and school uniform were discovered first, leading them to her lifeless body hidden in the underbrush.
It was evident that Beauty had been attacked while on her way to school, assaulted by unknown assailants, and left to die in the thicket.
The Nakuru police, led by police chief Josephine Wambui, immediately launched an investigation into the brutal murder. One suspect has been apprehended in connection with the crime.
The police have a seven-day window to complete their investigations and conduct a DNA test on the suspect to establish a solid connection to the murder.
Ms. Wanjiku, devastated by the loss of her daughter, described Beauty not only as her child but also as her close friend. The grief-stricken mother’s testimony paints a picture of a bright young girl who was a regular at school and much loved by her teachers and peers.
This incident has sent shock through the local community and prompted calls for increased security measures to protect school children.
As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a promising young life cut short by senseless violence.
Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward, hoping that justice for Beauty Njoki will be served swiftly.
