President William Ruto has announced the nomination of 11 new cabinet secretaries.
This reshuffle comes after days of extensive consultations with both his allies in the government and the opposition.
Aden Duale, who previously served as the Defence Cabinet Secretary, has been nominated once again to head the Ministry of Defence.
Duale expressed his gratitude to President Ruto and the Kenyan people for their continued trust in his capabilities. In a message shared on his social media account,
Duale stated, “I extend my deepest gratitude to H.E. President William Ruto for nominating me as Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Defence.
This nomination is a reflection of the President’s and the Kenyans' profound trust and confidence in my ability to advance the nation’s agenda.”
Duale also emphasized his readiness to face the vetting process by the National Assembly's relevant committee, expressing confidence in his ability to meet the public's expectations.
He quoted a verse from the Quran, “So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me,” to show his commitment and gratitude.
President Ruto’s nominations are seen as a balanced mix of continuity and fresh perspectives. Alongside Duale, Kithure Kindiki has been nominated as the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Alice Wahome for Lands, and Soipan Tuya for Environment.
