Kenyans React After Video Of Murkomen Dismissing Man Seeking Job At NTSA Surface After His Sacking

This surprising decision has caused a stir across Kenya, leading to various reactions and discussions among the public.

One particularly notable event that has come to light during this period of political upheaval is a resurfaced video featuring former Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

The video, which has now gone viral on the X app, shows Murkomen dismissing a man who was seeking a job at the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

In the video, Murkomen is seen speaking to a man who came to his office in search of employment. The job seeker expresses his need for work, but before he can explain further, Murkomen cuts him off abruptly. “We are not giving out work here,” Murkomen says in a harsh tone.

The video has sparked a wide range of reactions from Kenyans online, who have been quick to point out the irony of the situation given Murkomen’s current unemployed status following the Cabinet dismissal.

The reactions to the video have been diverse, with many criticizing Murkomen for his lack of empathy. Comments on the video highlight the general sentiment of the public.

One user, @betteryou___, noted the irony, saying, "Now, they are both jobless." Another user, @DrukeAndy, commented, "Pride, fall comes after pride!" These reactions reflect a common belief that those in positions of power should treat everyone with respect, as circumstances can change quickly.

President Ruto’s decision to fire his entire Cabinet was a significant move, aimed at addressing the country’s evolving needs and challenges.

In his announcement, Ruto stated, "Upon reflection, listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after a holistic appraisal of the performance of my Cabinet and its achievements and challenges, I have decided to dismiss all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General from the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs."

This decision was made under the powers granted by Article 152(1) and 152(5)(b) of the Constitution and Section 12 of the Office of the Attorney-General Act. The firing of the entire Cabinet has led to a mixed response from both politicians and the public.

While some view it as a necessary step to bring fresh energy and ideas into the government, others see it as a drastic and potentially destabilizing move. The immediate effect of this decision is evident in the sudden unemployment of several high-ranking officials, including Murkomen.

Before his dismissal, Murkomen had been vocal about the challenges faced by the Roads and Transport Ministry. In an interview with Spice FM on Wednesday, July 10, Murkomen acknowledged that Kenyans were dissatisfied with the ministry's performance.

Despite the public outcry, Murkomen insisted that he would not resign, indicating that he believed in his ability to lead the ministry effectively if given the proper resources.
