DP Gachagua Asks Ruto for Forgiveness, Promises to Support Him in Choosing New Cabinet

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recently delivered a significant message of apology and reconciliation on behalf of government officials to President William Ruto.

Speaking from Elgeyo Marakwet, Gachagua acknowledged the shortcomings within the administration and took responsibility for mistakes made by officials closely associated with the President.

The apology comes amidst a series of bold decisions by President Ruto, including the suspension of the Finance Bill 2024 and the dismissal of all Cabinet Secretaries.

Gachagua commended Ruto for these actions, emphasizing their importance in addressing the needs and aspirations of the Kenyan people.

He also praised Ruto's direct engagement with Kenyan youth through initiatives such as the X space, highlighting efforts to connect with the country's future leaders.

"The President, you are a hero. To all of us who have let you down in your administration, please forgive us," Gachagua humbly stated.

His words reflect a broader sentiment among government officials to reconcile differences and refocus efforts on national priorities.

Looking ahead, Gachagua expressed confidence in the government's ability to regroup and move forward effectively.

He urged President Ruto to carefully consider his selections for the new cabinet, emphasizing the need for competence and dedication among those appointed to lead various governmental departments.

"We stand ready to assist you in assembling a strong team that will support your vision for economic transformation," Gachagua assured.

In addition to seeking forgiveness, Gachagua called upon his fellow leaders to prioritize the concerns of ordinary Kenyans and to lead with humility and transparency.

He cautioned against displays of opulence or arrogance, stressing the importance of servant leadership in meeting the expectations of the electorate.

President Ruto's recent decision to overhaul the government structure by dismissing the entire cabinet, except for the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, marks a significant step towards redefining governmental priorities and enhancing service delivery.

This restructuring aims to streamline operations and foster a more responsive administration capable of meeting the evolving needs of the population.

Furthermore, Gachagua emphasized the importance of unity among government officials in supporting President Ruto's agenda.

He reaffirmed his dedication, alongside his colleagues, to ensuring that the President's promises to the Kenyan people are fulfilled. "Our focus must remain on serving the interests of the people and delivering tangible results," Gachagua reiterated.
