On Saturday, July 13, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed his strong support for President William Ruto's recent decision to dismiss all Cabinet Secretaries.

Speaking at the commissioning of Kipsoen Technical and Vocational College in Elgeyo Marakwet, Gachagua praised Ruto for his decisive action and called for the appointment of a new team of competent, apolitical, and uncorrupt Cabinet Secretaries.

Gachagua's backing of Ruto's move is significant. It highlights the need for a fresh start in the government, one that prioritizes the needs of the Kenyan people over personal interests.

During his speech, Gachagua emphasized that the new cabinet should be composed of individuals who are humble and free from political entanglements.

According to Gachagua, such a cabinet would be more efficient and harmonious, ultimately better serving the citizens of Kenya.

"We fully support you for the bold decision to dismiss your cabinet secretaries so that you can appoint new ones to help you in your role," Gachagua stated. "Appoint CSs who have no pride, those who don't engage in politics and those who are not corrupt. That will help you to deliver to the people."

Gachagua's remarks came just two days after President Ruto announced the dismissal of all Cabinet Secretaries, sparing only the Prime Cabinet Secretary, the Deputy President, and the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary.

This move by Ruto was prompted by widespread demands from Kenyans during recent nationwide protests.

The citizens had voiced their frustrations and called for a more effective and responsive government.

President Ruto explained that his decision was based on a thorough appraisal of the cabinet's performance. He stated, "Upon reflection and listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after holistic appraisal of the performance of my Cabinet and its achievements and challenges, I have today, in line with the powers given to me, decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the CSs and AG except the PCS and CS for Foreign Affairs. The office of the DP is not affected in any way."

This sweeping dismissal was seen as a bold and necessary step to address the grievances of the Kenyan people.

The president acknowledged that the current cabinet had not met the expectations of the citizens and that significant changes were needed to ensure better governance.

By taking this action, Ruto aimed to rebuild trust with the public and demonstrate his commitment to leading a government that prioritizes the welfare of its people.

Gachagua expressed confidence in President Ruto's ability to choose the right leaders for the nation's betterment.

He reiterated that the new cabinet should be made up of individuals who are dedicated to public service and free from corruption.
