Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has firmly opposed the proposed national dialogue between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Kalonzo Musyoka, alongside other leaders from the Azimio la Umoja coalition, emphasized that Kenya's youth, often referred to as Gen Z, are not interested in mere talks but demand concrete action from the government.

The discourse stems from ongoing protests and demonstrations led by Gen Z, highlighting various grievances such as the need for medical intern placements, calls for the dissolution of Parliament, and demands for accountability in governance.

"In terms of the Gen Z revolution, it appears that Ruto lacks an understanding of public sentiment. Generation Z does not wish to engage in dialogue. They want action, and Wiper agrees," stated Kalonzo Musyoka during a recent press briefing.

The Wiper Democratic Movement's National Executive Committee (NEC) has formally endorsed the Gen Z movement's demands.

They have called for immediate action on key issues affecting young Kenyans, including the swift dissolution of Parliament, the implementation of systemic reforms, and the removal of allegedly corrupt officials from government positions.

"We stand with the Gen Z movement in their call for transformative change. It is imperative that President Ruto's administration listens to the voices of the youth and acts decisively to address their concerns," declared a statement from Wiper party officials.

The call for action comes amidst heightened political tensions in Kenya, with President Ruto advocating for a national dialogue to address the grievances raised by Gen Z and other youth groups.

However, critics argue that dialogue without substantive outcomes will not suffice in addressing the deep-seated issues facing the nation's youth.

Senator Raila Odinga, a key figure in the opposition and leader of the ODM party, initially supported the dialogue proposed by President Ruto.

However, faced with mounting pressure from Gen Z supporters and other opposition leaders, he has hinted at reassessing his position.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, speaking on behalf of ODM, defended Raila Odinga's willingness to engage in dialogue, emphasizing the importance of addressing the concerns of all Kenyans, including the youth. Nevertheless, the divide between those advocating for immediate action and those supporting dialogue continues to widen.

Kalonzo Musyoka's rejection of the dialogue initiative is seen as a strategic move within the broader political landscape of Kenya. As the country prepares for upcoming elections, political alliances and public sentiment, especially among the youth, are increasingly shaping the national discourse.

The Gen Z movement, largely mobilized through social media platforms and grassroots activism, has emerged as a formidable force in Kenyan politics. Their demands for transparency, accountability, and effective governance have resonated widely, galvanizing support from various political quarters.
