In recent days, Kenya has been gripped by a series of shocking discoveries that have sent waves of horror and grief through the nation.
Dismembered bodies found at the Kware Dumpsite in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Nairobi, have led to the arrest of Collins Jomaisi Khalisia, the prime suspect in what has become known as the Mukuru Killings.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been at the forefront of this harrowing investigation, uncovering details that have only deepened the public's sense of shock and sorrow.
Collins Jomaisi Khalisia, a resident of Kayole, was apprehended by the DCI following a comprehensive investigation sparked by the grim discovery of mutilated bodies at the dumpsite.
During a press conference, DCI Chief Amin Mohamed disclosed that Khalisia had confessed to the murders, revealing that he had killed over 42 women since 2022, including his own wife.
According to Khalisia, his murderous spree was triggered by personal grievances, specifically the failure of businesses he had started for his wife, which he claimed led to his frustration and eventual descent into serial killing.
Khalisia's confession provided a chilling account of his actions and motives. He explained that he had started a business for his wife, which she was unable to sustain, leading to its collapse.
This failure deeply angered him, but he tried again, setting up another business for her. When this second venture also failed, Khalisia’s frustration turned into rage.
He claimed that this was the last straw, prompting him to kill his wife. The pattern of failed businesses seemed to have ignited a murderous rage within him, leading to the brutal killing spree that followed.
Items Recovered from Khalisia’s House
As the investigation progressed, detectives conducted a thorough search of Khalisia’s home.
What they found there provided crucial evidence that has helped to piece together the extent of his crimes. The items recovered from his house paint a disturbing picture of a methodical and calculated killer.
1. Weapons: The search yielded several knives and other sharp objects, which are believed to have been used in the murders. These weapons are currently undergoing forensic analysis to confirm their connection to the crimes.
The presence of multiple weapons suggests that Khalisia had carefully planned his actions, equipping himself with the necessary tools to carry out his gruesome deeds.
2. Clothing and Personal Belongings: Detectives discovered numerous articles of women’s clothing and personal belongings.
These items are thought to belong to the victims, helping detectives to identify them and piece together the sequence of events leading to their deaths.
The sheer volume of these items indicates the scale of Khalisia’s crimes and the number of lives he has impacted.
3. Personal Diaries and Notebooks: Among the items found were Khalisia’s personal diaries and notebooks, containing detailed accounts of his actions and thoughts.
These writings provide a chilling insight into his motivations and the meticulous planning that went into his crimes.
They reveal a mind consumed by vengeance and hatred, driven by a desire to exact revenge on women he felt had wronged him.
4. Photographs and Videos: A collection of photographs and videos was recovered, some depicting the victims before and after their deaths.
This evidence is being used to build a stronger case against Khalisia and to understand the full scope of his activities. The existence of such material suggests a disturbing level of premeditation and a desire to document his crimes.
5. Tools and Cleaning Supplies: Various tools and cleaning supplies were also found, indicating that Khalisia took measures to cover up his crimes and dispose of evidence.

These items are being examined for traces of blood and other forensic evidence. The presence of cleaning supplies suggests that Khalisia was aware of the need to eliminate traces of his actions.
The revelation of these items has left the community in shock and mourning. The discovery of so many personal belongings and the detailed accounts in Khalisia’s diaries have brought home the full horror of his actions.
Families of the victims are struggling to come to terms with their loss, as the DCI continues its investigation.
The victims’ bodies are being held at the city mortuary, where autopsies are being conducted to aid in the investigation.
The autopsies are expected to provide further evidence to corroborate Khalisia’s confessions and help establish the cause of death for each victim.
DCI Chief Amin Mohamed assured the public that the investigation would continue until all those involved are brought to justice.
He emphasized that the DCI is committed to uncovering the full extent of Khalisia’s crimes and ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families.
Mukuru Kwa Njenga, a densely populated area of Nairobi, has been thrust into the spotlight as the grim details of Khal isia’s actions have emerged.
