In recent weeks, Kenya has been at the forefront of regional news due to widespread protests that successfully influenced significant political decisions.

An African man, Coach Le Pro Oliver, took to TikTok to commend Kenyan protesters for their unity and effectiveness in achieving these changes. He urged Kenyans to share their protest strategies with other African nations facing similar governance challenges.

Oliver, known for his advocacy on social issues, expressed admiration for how Kenyan protesters mobilized to pressure the government into withdrawing the Finance Bill 2024 and dissolving the Cabinet.

His message resonated with many across the continent who face comparable issues but have yet to achieve similar outcomes through protests.

"Kenyans, what is the recipe? What is your recipe?" Oliver passionately asked in his TikTok video. "You need to make this thing go around. You need to make this thing contagious because the entire African continent is in turmoil."

He emphasized the importance of unity and collective action, pointing out that freeing one country from governance issues while others remain oppressed achieves little for Africa as a whole.

Oliver stressed that sharing successful protest strategies could empower other nations to demand accountability and bring about meaningful change.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) also weighed in on Kenya's situation, expressing deep concern during a recent press briefing. IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack highlighted the complex challenges facing policymakers in low-income countries like Kenya, particularly in balancing fiscal policies with pressing public needs.

Kozack emphasized the IMF's commitment to collaborating with Kenyan authorities on proposed revenue policies to ensure they meet national objectives effectively.

The protests in Kenya were fueled by widespread discontent over rising living costs and perceived government mismanagement. They culminated in President X addressing the nation and making concessions demanded by the protesters, marking a significant shift in how citizens' voices can influence policy.

Social media reactions to Oliver's message were mixed but predominantly supportive. Many users from other African countries expressed solidarity with Kenyan protesters and echoed Oliver's call for unity. Some lamented the lack of similar movements in their own countries, attributing it to fear of repression or lack of organization.

Local reactions in Kenya varied, with some echoing Oliver's sentiment that unity and collective action were key ingredients in their success. Others emphasized the importance of sustained pressure to ensure lasting reforms and cautioned against complacency in the face of incremental concessions.
