Police in Nairobi have apprehended the prime suspect linked to the horrific killings of women in the Kware area of Mukuru slums.

The arrest was made on Monday morning in Kayole, where the suspect was hiding. This suspect, who lived only about 500 meters from the dumpsite where the bodies were discovered, has reportedly confessed to the gruesome murders.

The grisly discovery of ten mutilated bodies of women at the Kware dumpsite had sent shockwaves through the community and prompted a thorough investigation by the police.

The suspect, described by one officer as a psychopath, had been under surveillance. Officials revealed that he was caught in the act of trying to lure another victim when he was arrested.

A raid on the suspect’s house led to the recovery of various incriminating items, including ten mobile phones, seven identity cards, ten SIM cards, a panga (a type of machete), gloves, and several sacks similar to those used to conceal the bodies.

The suspect’s confession and the evidence found at his residence have provided a crucial breakthrough in the investigation, which had been a top priority for law enforcement.

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed Amin, announced that he would hold a press conference to update the public on the latest developments in the case.

The police have been pursuing several leads and theories, including the possibility of the killings being linked to a cult, serial killers, or rogue medical practitioners.

The bodies, all of which were of females aged between 18 and 30, were found in varying stages of decomposition. According to Amin, the modus operandi was consistent across all the victims.

The bodies were similarly disguised and packaged, and all were dumped at the same spot at the dumpsite. This pattern has led the police to believe that the murders were carried out by the same individual or group.

The identification process for the victims is ongoing. So far, two women, including Josephine Owino, have been identified. Josephine went missing on June 26, and her body was later found stuffed in a sack at the dumpsite.

Her sister had received a call from a man claiming to be with Josephine before her disappearance. The second victim went missing on June 28, and efforts to identify her are still in progress.

In addition to the human remains, police also discovered dog carcasses among the bodies. This added a macabre twist to the investigation, raising more questions about the motives and mental state of the suspect.

The police are conducting autopsies on the bodies at the City Mortuary to gather more evidence and further understand the circumstances of the deaths.

The discovery of the bodies and the subsequent investigation had placed immense pressure on the government and law enforcement agencies.

There were growing concerns and allegations of extrajudicial killings, which the police have been keen to address.

The arrest of the suspect and his confession have provided some relief, but the authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to uncover the full extent of the crimes.
