Former Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has issued a strong message against perpetrators of violence in Kenya, cautioning that their actions will not be tolerated by the government.

His remarks come in the wake of recent protests over the Finance Bill that turned violent in parts of the country.

Duale emphasized the government's commitment to maintaining peace and order, stressing that any acts of violence aimed at disrupting the tranquility of the nation will face serious consequences.

This stern warning echoes sentiments expressed by President, who condemned the recent outbreaks of violence during the protests.

In a tweet posted on his official account, Duale reaffirmed the government's stance, stating,

"The government will not tolerate orchestrated acts of violence aimed at disrupting the peace."

This statement shows the seriousness with which the authorities view the recent incidents and their determination to uphold law and order.

The former Cabinet Secretary further warned individuals or groups contemplating further disruptions, asserting that they will face legal repercussions for their actions.

The Finance Bill protests, which initially began as peaceful demonstrations against proposed tax amendments, escalated into violence in some areas.

This escalation prompted swift responses from security forces tasked with maintaining public safety. Duale's comments reflect broader concerns over the rule of law and the need to address grievances through lawful and peaceful means.

Kenya has a history of periodic protests and demonstrations over economic policies and other socio-political issues.

While the right to peaceful assembly is protected under the constitution, incidents of violence during protests pose significant challenges to national stability and development.

Duale's statement also aligns with ongoing efforts by the government to promote dialogue and constructive engagement as avenues for resolving disputes.

By emphasizing the consequences of violence, he underscores the importance of respecting democratic processes and the rule of law in addressing grievances.

The role of security forces in maintaining peace during protests is crucial, as they are tasked with balancing the rights of demonstrators with the need to prevent violence and protect public safety.

Instances where protests turn violent often result in injuries, property damage, and disruptions to daily life, affecting both individuals and businesses.

In response to the recent unrest, authorities have initiated investigations into the incidents of violence and are working to identify and apprehend those responsible. This proactive approach aims to deter future acts of violence and uphold the rule of law.

It calls upon citizens to express their grievances peacefully and within the confines of the law, while urging leaders to address legitimate concerns through dialogue and inclusive decision-making processes.

Looking forward, the government's commitment to maintaining peace and security remains paramount.

Efforts to strengthen law enforcement capabilities, promote civic education on peaceful conflict resolution, and enhance socio-economic opportunities are essential to mitigating the root causes of unrest.
