Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has made a bold claim, asserting that he does not own a vehicle recently found with tear gas canisters.

This incident has led to significant legal and public attention, and Wanjigi argues that he is being unfairly targeted due to political reasons.

The controversy began when police discovered four tear gas canisters, two Motorola devices, and other items in a vehicle parked outside Wanjigi’s property.

The Inspector General of Police reported the findings and demanded that Wanjigi present himself for questioning.

The police suggested that the presence of these items was linked to the ongoing Nane Nane demonstrations in Nairobi, raising suspicions about Wanjigi’s involvement.

Wanjigi, through his legal representative, Nelson Osiemo, has vehemently denied any connection to the vehicle.

According to Wanjigi, the car does not belong to him or anyone in his circle. He has filed a case at the Milimani Law Courts to challenge the accusations.

In his court application, Wanjigi argues that the police have no legitimate grounds to arrest him or press charges. He believes the charges are an attempt to settle political scores rather than based on actual evidence.

In addition to requesting anticipatory bail, Wanjigi is seeking a court order to prevent the police from arresting him and infringing on his freedom of movement.

He describes the situation as a severe violation of his constitutional rights, citing ongoing harassment and intimidation by law enforcement.

Wanjigi has faced significant mental and emotional distress, alleging that police actions have severely impacted his privacy and freedom.

Wanjigi’s legal team argues that this case is more about political maneuvering than genuine legal issues.

They suggest that the police are using this situation to create trouble for Wanjigi, who is known for his political activities and has previously been a target of political adversaries.

The case has drawn considerable media attention, highlighting the tensions between Wanjigi and the authorities.

The businessman’s claims of political harassment resonate with his supporters, who view this as part of a broader pattern of political persecution.
