Mummie Francie, a well-known content creator recognized for her humorous skits on platforms like Facebook and TikTok, is mourning the recent death of her father.

In a touching interview with TUKO.co.ke, Francie opened up about her father’s struggle with cancer, a battle that ended in May 2024.

The journey began with what was initially thought to be a common case of tonsillitis. Francie’s father experienced symptoms that seemed like a typical infection, and the family did not suspect the seriousness of his condition.

As time went on, his symptoms did not improve, leading them to seek more medical attention.

Despite their efforts to get a proper diagnosis, it wasn’t until May 2024 that they discovered the true nature of his illness.

The diagnosis revealed that Francie’s father had cancer, specifically a tumor in his throat. This was a devastating blow for the family, who had been hoping for a less severe diagnosis.

Francie recounted the difficulty of coming to terms with her father's condition. She explained that her father’s illness became increasingly severe when he started having trouble swallowing and drinking.

The situation became more urgent, and they sought advanced medical care. It was during this time that the family learned about the throat tumor.

One of the most memorable moments for Francie was visiting her father after his surgery. Despite the pain he was enduring, he managed to smile at her, which she described as a bittersweet memory.

This visit was particularly significant as it was one of the last times she saw her father before his condition worsened.

In the final days of her father’s life, Francie spent as much time as possible with him in their family home in Busia. Her father’s pain was so intense that he could not sleep and had to remain seated.

Francie stayed with him, providing comfort and support, but eventually had to return to Nairobi for work.

The financial strain from his medical treatments meant she had to resume her responsibilities, even as her heart remained with her father.

Francie’s return to Nairobi was filled with mixed emotions. She had used most of her resources on her father’s medical care, and the financial burden was significant.

Despite this, she continued to work, knowing that her father’s treatment and care were the priority.

Unfortunately, the medical updates were not promising, and although doctors tried to offer hope through scans and X-rays, it became clear that the situation was critical.

On July 17, while Francie was traveling back to Busia to be with her father, she received the heartbreaking news that he had passed away.

The news came to her while she was on a bus, and she described the pain of that moment as indescribable. It was a devastating experience, compounded by the physical and emotional exhaustion she was already feeling.

The burial ceremony for Francie’s father is scheduled to take place in Busia on August 6, 2024. This event will mark the end of a difficult period for Francie and her family, and they are preparing to say their final goodbyes.

For those who wish to offer support during this challenging time, contributions can be made to help with the funeral expenses. Donations can be sent via Paybill 522522, Account No. 5825498, under the name Mummie Francie.
