President Ruto Awards Millions To Kenyan Olympic Medalists

Kenyan athletes have returned home as national heroes following their remarkable performances at the Paris Olympics. 

Among them, Beatrice Chebet stood out with her impressive double gold medal victories in the 5000m and 10,000m races. Her success not only brought immense pride to Kenya but also earned her a significant reward from the government.

Chebet’s achievements were celebrated in a grand homecoming event held in Eldoret. The city, known for its strong sporting heritage, hosted a hero’s welcome for the athletes. 

The celebration was attended by high-ranking officials, including President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen. This event was a testament to the country's appreciation for the athletes who represented Kenya on the global stage.

During the ceremony, President Ruto presented Beatrice Chebet with a generous prize of six million shillings. This reward was in recognition of her outstanding performance and dedication. 

Chebet’s gold medals in both the 5000m and 10,000m races were seen as a remarkable achievement, demonstrating her exceptional talent and hard work. Her success at the Paris Olympics was a highlight for Kenya, and the reward reflects the government's commitment to honoring its athletes.

The prize distribution was part of a broader recognition of all Kenyan Olympians who competed in Paris. Athletes who won silver medals were awarded two million shillings each, while bronze medallists received one million shillings. 

This tiered reward system was designed to celebrate the diverse achievements of the Kenyan team and to acknowledge the hard work of every athlete who contributed to the nation’s success.
