School Boys Stumble On Body Dumped Inside Mau Forest; Investigations Underway

Police in Silibwet, Bomet County, are investigating the discovery of a man's body in Mau Forest. The unsettling find was made by two schoolboys who had ventured into the forest for an adventure in the Masese area, a location known for its dense and often mysterious surroundings.

According to the area chief, Richard Cheruiyot, the boys stumbled upon the body, which was hidden among tall grass, while exploring the forest.

Realizing the gravity of their discovery, they quickly alerted nearby locals, who were herding livestock close to the forest's edge. The news spread rapidly, and soon, the authorities were notified.

The police arrived promptly at the scene, accompanied by members of the local community.

The body was examined on the spot, and initial observations indicated that it bore no visible signs of physical injury. However, this only deepened the mystery, as the cause of death was not immediately apparent.

The body was subsequently taken to Longisa Hospital Mortuary for further examination and an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The area chief revealed that this is not an isolated incident. In the past two years alone, a shocking 25 bodies have been found within Mau Forest, a fact that has left the local community in fear and uncertainty.

According to Cheruiyot, most of the victims have been boda boda riders—motorcycle taxi operators—who appear to be particularly vulnerable.

Some of these victims were identified by their relatives, but many remain unnamed, leaving their families in distress and the community desperate for answers.

The situation has become a major concern for residents, particularly those who rely on the Silibwet-Olenguruone road, which cuts through the forest.

The road is a vital link for many in the region, but it has also become a dangerous route, especially at night. The chief urged the public, especially boda boda operators, to exercise extreme caution when using this road, particularly after dark.

In response to this latest discovery, local boda boda operators, led by county chair Alexander Rono, have called on the police to increase patrols in the area.

They are urging authorities to take more proactive measures to ensure the safety of those who travel through or work near the forest. The operators argue that the police need to be more vigilant, especially during nighttime, to prevent further loss of life.

The recurring discoveries of bodies in Mau Forest have left the community grappling with fear and uncertainty. The lack of clear answers as to who is behind these deaths has only intensified the anxiety.

While the police continue their investigations, the community is left to wonder how long it will be before the perpetrators are brought to justice and whether more lives will be lost in the meantime.

For now, the people of Silibwet and the surrounding areas must remain vigilant.

The police have assured the public that they are doing everything in their power to solve these cases, but the community's patience is wearing thin.
