Maina Wanjigi, the son of prominent Kenyan businessman Jimi Wanjigi, has recently made headlines after a video emerged showing him actively participating in anti-government protests in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD).

The video, which has since gone viral, captures the young Wanjigi expressing his thoughts on the current state of the nation and the need for economic change.

Maina’s involvement in the protests comes at a time when tensions between the government and citizens are high. These protests are part of a broader movement driven by concerns over the country’s economic situation and what many see as government overreach.

Maina Wanjigi, despite his privileged background, has chosen to stand with the common people in these demonstrations, a move that has both surprised and inspired many.

During the protests, Maina was seen struggling with the effects of tear gas, which had been deployed by the police to disperse the crowds.

Despite his discomfort, he took a moment to speak to journalists about his reasons for joining the protests.

Maina emphasized that the younger generation must take responsibility for the country's economic future, noting that while previous generations fought for political freedoms, it is now up to the youth to address the nation’s economic challenges.

"Our parents did a very good job in fighting for our political rights, but now it's time to own our space and take over to fight for the economy and our future," Maina said, wiping tears from his eyes caused by the tear gas.

He criticized the police’s actions during the protests, accusing them of using excessive force, including live bullets, against demonstrators. Maina expressed his disappointment, saying, "It's a shame that with all the rights in our constitution, we can't have our freedom."

The video of Maina Wanjigi participating in the protests quickly spread across social media, sparking a wide range of reactions. Some people were shocked to see the son of a billionaire taking part in such a public display of dissent.

Many questioned why someone from such a wealthy and influential family would choose to join street protests.

On the other hand, others praised Maina for his courage and commitment to social justice, seeing his actions as a sign that the fight for economic liberation transcends class and privilege.

Social media users shared their thoughts on the matter, with one person commenting, "So Jimmy sent his son to the streets... This is serious." Another remarked, "Wanjigi junior is getting acquainted with politics live from the ground."

Maina’s participation in the protests follows a recent incident where police officers raided the Wanjigi family home in search of his father, Jimi Wanjigi.

Jimi Wanjigi is a well-known figure in Kenyan politics and business, and his family has faced numerous challenges from the authorities over the years.

After the raid, Jimi Wanjigi emerged to speak to the media, dismissing the police's actions and asserting that they would never find him in hiding.
