BREAKING; Acting IG Gilbert Masengeli Sentenced to Six Months in Prison for Contempt of Court

Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli was sentenced to six months in prison by Justice Lawrence Mugambi in a landmark decision today.

The ruling comes after Masengeli repeatedly ignored court orders requiring him to provide information about the whereabouts of three individuals.

The court found Masengeli in contempt after he failed to respond to seven separate court orders. These orders were issued to compel him to explain the location of Jamil Longton, Aslam Longton, and activist Bob Njagi.

The three had been reportedly detained by people posing as police officers, and Masengeli's non-compliance with the court’s requests raised serious concerns.

The sentence requires Masengeli to report to the Commissioner General of Prisons and begin serving his term. If he does not voluntarily surrender, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Kithure Kindiki, is directed to ensure his immediate arrest and incarceration.

The Interior Ministry is expected to closely monitor the situation due to its potential impact on the country’s law enforcement.
