A tragic incident occurred in Parklands, Nairobi, where 36-year-old businessman Sagar Panara was shot dead outside his home on September 24, 2024.
According to police reports, the businessman was ambushed as he returned from a sports club, raising suspicions that he was being followed.
Panara, an employee of MART Networks, was driving his white Toyota Corolla when he was attacked at the entrance of his residential compound. The assailants shot him in the neck, just below his right ear, after a brief confrontation, and then fled the scene.
Neighbors and police officers who responded to the gunshots rushed him to Aga Khan Hospital, but he sadly passed away while receiving emergency treatment.
Authorities are investigating the incident and are looking into the possibility of the attack being linked to a land deal dispute in Narok. Six ominous leaflets were found at the crime scene, with messages suggesting Panara's murder may have been related to a land conflict in the region. One note read, "VACATE NAROK LAND, ONE PANARA DOWN AND NAROK," indicating a possible motive behind the killing.
Detectives are currently pursuing the gunmen and trying to piece together the events leading up to Panara's death. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to bring the culprits to justice.
This tragic killing has raised concerns about growing land-related disputes and violence in Kenya, sparking fears of escalating tensions over contested properties.
