A heartbreaking accident occurred on the Rameswaram Highway, resulting in the deaths of five members of a family.
The victims were on their way home from the hospital after taking care of their newborn baby, who had been unwell. The accident took place when their taxi collided with a government bus that had parked on the highway to help a sick commuter.
The devastating crash claimed the lives of Rajesh, the father of the newborn, along with his two young daughters, Dharshana Rani, aged eight, and Pranaveeka, aged five.
Also killed in the accident were Rajesh's in-laws, his father-in-law Senthil Manoharan, who was 70 years old, and his mother-in-law Angaleswari, aged 60.
However, the newborn baby, who was just 12 days old, survived the crash, as did the baby's mother and the taxi driver. Though they survived, they were seriously injured and were rushed to the Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were transported to a government hospital for postmortem examinations.
According to reports from local authorities, the accident occurred after the government bus made an unexpected stop on the highway. The bus driver had pulled over to help a passenger who was feeling unwell.
Unfortunately, the taxi, which was hired by Rajesh to take his sick baby to the hospital, collided with the stationary bus, leading to the deadly crash.
