'He's My Soulmate' - Nairobi Woman Seeks Kind Stranger Who Paid Her Matatu Fare

Winjoy Kananu, a Nairobi resident, is on a heartfelt quest to locate a stranger who made a lasting impression on her by paying her matatu fare. This act of kindness occurred during her journey to Ngara, and Winjoy is now actively trying to find the person who helped her.

The encounter happened when Winjoy was traveling in a matatu. While seated next to a man, he offered to cover her fare, holding a thousand shillings in his hand. Winjoy gratefully accepted his offer, which she found both surprising and touching. The man’s generous act had such a significant impact on her that she almost missed her stop in Ngara, as she wanted to continue their conversation.

However, Winjoy was too shy to ask for the man’s contact information before he left. Reflecting on the experience, she said, “Today, a stranger paid my matatu fare. He was holding a thousand shillings and asked if he could pay for me. I almost missed my stop in Ngara because I wanted to spend more time with him.”

Determined to find the kind stranger, Winjoy posted about the encounter on Facebook, hoping to reconnect. Since her post, she has been inundated with responses from various men claiming to be the one she is looking for. Despite these claims, Winjoy has struggled to find the right person, as none of the respondents matched the man’s appearance or description.

Winjoy noted, “Many men came forward saying they are him, but I remember his face clearly, and most of the profiles I checked do not match.” The large number of responses has made it challenging for her to identify the correct individual.

Winjoy also shared that she is accustomed to helping others by paying for their bus fares when she feels compelled. She revealed that some of those she has assisted have shared their personal struggles, such as financial difficulties or job searches.

“I usually feel a push to help someone next to me,” she explained. “After I help, some tell me it was their only money or that they were looking for jobs.”

Her experience shows the impact of simple acts of kindness and the connections they can create. Winjoy believes that the man who paid her fare is a genuinely good person and hopes to find him soon. She encourages everyone to offer help when possible, noting that many people may appear well but could be facing hidden challenges.
