The young girl, a Form One student at Kahuhia Girls High School, disappeared on May 13, 2024, just a day before schools reopened for the second term. Her sudden disappearance left her family devastated, and they embarked on a long and difficult search to find her.

Daisy’s mother, Julia Githaiga, was the first to share the news of her daughter’s safe return. On Monday, September 9, Julia received a phone call from Daisy, which came as a surprise after months of worry.

According to Julia, Daisy asked her how she was doing and whether she was still upset with her. Julia responded by saying she was fine and invited her daughter to come home.

When Daisy arrived, Julia was overjoyed to see how healthy and grown her daughter looked. She expressed her relief and happiness that Daisy had returned safely.

Daisy explained that she had been working as a house help in Kileleshwa during the time she was missing. She claimed to have seen news reports about her disappearance, which made her decide to return home and ease her family's distress.

While the details of her employment in Kileleshwa remain unclear and have not been confirmed, what mattered most to the family was that she had returned unharmed.

The four months of Daisy’s absence were extremely difficult for the Githaiga family. Julia recounted how they searched everywhere for her daughter, including mortuaries and hospitals. “It was a very tough time for us. We searched in mortuaries, hospitals, and followed every lead we could get,” Julia said.

She also mentioned that they had received some helpful information during their search, but the legal support they needed was beyond their financial reach. Lawyers who could have assisted asked for KSh 100,000, an amount the family could not afford.

In the end, Julia said that the family had to rely on prayers and the kindness of others to get through this trying period. She expressed her deep gratitude to everyone who helped them, whether it was through offering emotional support or simply spreading the word about Daisy’s disappearance. Despite the challenges, Julia never gave up hope, and she is thankful that her prayers were answered.

The family had feared the worst during the months that Daisy was missing. Many parents in similar situations often face a terrifying uncertainty, unsure of what has happened to their loved ones. Julia’s story is a reminder of the emotional toll that a missing child can have on a family. Fortunately, for the Githaiga family, this story has a happy ending.

When Daisy returned home, her friends and family gathered to welcome her back. The atmosphere was filled with joy and relief, as they had all been worried about her safety. After months of uncertainty, they were glad to see her in good health and ready to move on from this difficult chapter.

One of the most encouraging outcomes of Daisy’s return is her willingness to resume her education. Julia shared that her daughter is ready to go back to school and continue her studies without any issues. This is an important step for Daisy’s future, as education will provide her with the tools she needs to build a better life for herself.

Julia ended by thanking God and everyone who supported her family during this challenging time. She emphasized how tough the last few months had been but also highlighted the importance of staying strong and hopeful in the face of hardship.

“We are so happy that Daisy is back with us. I thank God for bringing her home safely, and I am grateful to everyone who helped us during this difficult time,” Julia said.
