Missing Woman's Remains Found in Septic Tank After Two Years

Human remains believed to be those of Esther Mulelenge, a woman who disappeared two years ago, have been discovered in a septic tank in Njeru Municipality. The discovery has shocked the local community and brought new attention to the long-unsolved case of Mulelenge’s disappearance.

The remains were uncovered by Lydia Nandutu, the homeowner, who had recently returned from Poland after working there since 2022. Nandutu had entrusted her house to Ronald Kirya, Mulelenge’s husband, while she was away.

According to Kirya, Mulelenge had left him and married another man, abandoning their two-year-old child. This story, however, had always seemed dubious to those who knew the couple, especially Mulelenge’s teenage son, James.

On her return, Nandutu decided to undertake a deep cleaning of the house, including the septic tank. She was assisted by a newly recruited maid. During the cleaning process, they discovered a heavy cloth inside the septic tank.

Upon further inspection, they found a human skull and bones wrapped in the cloth. This alarming discovery led Nandutu to contact her neighbors, who then notified the police.

James Mulelenge, the teenage son, had long harbored doubts about his father’s version of events. He expressed his suspicions that Kirya knew more about his mother’s disappearance than he was letting on.

According to James, Kirya had often avoided giving clear answers when asked about Esther. This led James and other family members to question the truth behind Kirya’s claims.

The discovery of the remains has prompted immediate action from the local community and authorities. Neighbors quickly apprehended Kirya and handed him over to the police.

Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa regional police spokesperson, confirmed that Kirya would be charged with murder if the DNA tests verify that the remains belong to Mulelenge.

The police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the remains to determine if there is any other evidence linking Kirya to the crime.

If the DNA results show that the remains are not those of Esther Mulelenge, Kirya will still be required to explain the origin of the body.

Since Kirya had been responsible for the property since 2021, he is expected to provide answers about how the body ended up in the septic tank.

This tragic discovery has deeply affected the local community, with many people expressing their sadness and anger over the situation. The case has reignited interest and concern about Mulelenge’s fate and has prompted calls for justice from her family and the community.

For James Mulelenge and the rest of Esther’s family, the discovery of her remains has brought a mix of grief and a desire for closure. The community is now waiting anxiously for the results of the DNA tests and for the judicial process to unfold.
