NEWS JUST IN; Govt Confirms All Students Safe After Endarasha Academy Fire Incident

On Monday, the Kenyan government provided an important update regarding a fire that broke out at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County.

This update followed earlier reports that had caused widespread concern, suggesting that 70 students were missing after the fire. However, the government has now clarified that all students are safe, and no one is missing.

Isaac Mwaura, the official government spokesperson, delivered the update, assuring the public that there was no need for alarm. He emphasized that every student enrolled at the school has been accounted for, and there was no reason to worry about any children being unaccounted for.

In a statement shared with various news outlets, including Kenyans.co.ke, Mwaura provided detailed information about the number of students at the academy. According to the spokesperson, the school has a total of 330 learners. These include 166 girls and 164 boys, all of whom were safely accounted for after the fire.

Mwaura confirmed that all 166 girls had already gone home safely with their parents. This was a major relief for many parents and members of the public who were worried after hearing earlier reports.

In addition, Mwaura explained that the 164 boys, who live at the school, were also safe. He assured everyone that no boys were missing or harmed during the fire.

This clarification was especially important, as initial reports had caused panic. When the fire broke out, there was some confusion about the whereabouts of the students, leading to the inaccurate report that 70 children were missing.

However, after conducting a thorough headcount and confirming the students' safety, the school and government assured the public that no one had been lost or injured in the incident.

Although the government confirmed the safety of the students, the cause of the fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy is still under investigation.

Authorities are working closely with the school to determine what caused the fire and how such incidents can be prevented in the future.

Mwaura reassured parents and the public that the government is taking the necessary steps to investigate the situation thoroughly. He emphasized that student safety is a top priority for both the school and the government.

The investigation will focus on ensuring that the school's safety measures are reviewed to prevent any similar incidents from happening again.

The spokesperson also expressed gratitude to the school staff, parents, and local authorities for their quick response to the emergency. Thanks to their efforts, a more serious incident was avoided.

The fire could have been much worse, but the swift action taken by those on the ground ensured that all students were evacuated safely and that the situation was brought under control quickly.

Mwaura called on parents to remain calm, reminding them that the situation was now under control and there was no reason to worry about their children’s safety.

He also reiterated that the well-being of students remains a priority for the government, and they will continue to work with schools to ensure the best safety standards.
