The grim scene unfolded in the village of Kaliwa, Waitaluk Ward, where the woman's body was discovered wrapped in a blanket and buried without a coffin behind a small mud house.

According to Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Jeremiah Ole Kosiom, the police were acting on credible information suggesting that more than one body might be buried in the area. Officers quickly moved to secure the site and begin investigations.
“We received intelligence that there could be more victims buried in this area, which prompted us to seek a court order to dig up the site,” Kosiom said while addressing the media at the scene.
Homicide officers, along with forensic experts, were deployed to the site to determine the exact cause of death and look for any signs of foul play.
As the body was exhumed, it became clear that the woman may have been murdered before being hastily buried. The body, wrapped in a blanket, appeared to have been interred without much care, raising concerns about possible criminal activity surrounding her death.

“The two suspects are helping us with investigations as we work to establish their involvement in this crime,” Kosiom added.
