Two Women Arrested for Abducting and Assaulting Blogger in Mombasa

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two women, Esther Muthoni and Violet Adera, who are accused of abducting and molesting a well-known blogger based in the coastal region of Kenya.

The arrests come as part of an ongoing investigation into the brutal attack on the blogger, which allegedly took place after he publicly criticized Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir.

The ordeal began when a group of individuals abducted the blogger from his home. Reports indicate that Muthoni and Adera were part of a four-member gang responsible for the abduction.

The blogger’s online activities, particularly his verbal criticism of Governor Nassir, are believed to be the motive behind the attack.

The gang is said to have forcefully taken him to an undisclosed location, where he was subjected to physical and sexual assault.

Sources within the DCI reveal that after the assault, the blogger was abandoned in an unknown location. It was only through the intervention of a good Samaritan that he was rescued and rushed to safety.

He was later taken to a hospital, where he received treatment for the injuries he sustained during the attack. The traumatic experience has left the blogger severely shaken, and authorities are now offering him protection as the investigation continues.

While the arrests of Muthoni and Adera are a significant breakthrough, police are still on the hunt for seven other suspects believed to be part of the same gang.

Authorities have described the suspects as dangerous and are urging anyone with information to come forward to help bring them to justice.

The DCI has been working around the clock to gather evidence and piece together the events that led to the abduction.

Investigators are looking into whether the blogger’s criticism of Governor Nassir was the direct trigger for the attack or if other motives were involved.

The case has attracted widespread attention due to the shocking nature of the crime, and many are eager to see the suspects held accountable for their actions.

Public figures, especially those active on social media, have expressed concern over the safety of individuals who speak out against political leaders, fearing similar reprisals.

Muthoni and Adera are expected to appear in court today to face multiple charges, including abduction, sexual assault, and physical harm. The prosecution is building a case against the two women, and further charges could be brought as the investigation continues.

Legal experts have pointed out that the suspects could face severe penalties if convicted. The charges of abduction and molestation carry hefty sentences under Kenyan law, and with the possibility of more suspects being apprehended, the case could take time to resolve.

The legal process is being closely monitored by the public, with many hoping that justice will be served swiftly. Advocacy groups have also weighed in, calling for the protection of bloggers, journalists, and activists who face threats and violence for exercising their freedom of speech.
