Speaking recently in Limuru, Kiambu County, at the funeral service of Geoffrey Murugami, Gachagua addressed his supporters and fellow Kenyans, urging them to remain calm despite the political challenges he faces.
He stressed the importance of upholding peace and unity in Kenya, even as his fate rests with the Judiciary.
Gachagua’s statement comes after his lawyer, Elisha Ongoya, passionately appealed to the Judiciary on his client’s behalf.
Ongoya, addressing the court, described the Judiciary as a "beacon of hope" for Kenya, emphasizing the critical role it plays in maintaining constitutional order and fairness.
He argued that Gachagua’s case offers the courts an opportunity to correct any perceived injustices and demonstrate their commitment to upholding the law impartially.
In his remarks, Gachagua reminded the people of the Mt. Kenya region and all Kenyans to maintain positive relationships with those from different communities, saying that Kenya belongs to everyone and that peace should always come first.
He highlighted that the country’s unity is more significant than any individual, urging citizens to remember that "we only have one Kenya."
His call for peace suggests his desire to avoid any political or social conflicts that may arise due to his impeachment.
Furthermore, Gachagua encouraged Kenyans to trust the legal process and accept the eventual outcome of his case with patience and understanding.
He noted that, regardless of the court’s decision, there would be an appropriate time for people to voice their opinions without causing divisions or unrest. He emphasized that unity is vital for Kenya’s stability and growth.
Gachagua’s words are a reminder to his supporters and the nation of the importance of faith in the rule of law.
His expression of trust in the Judiciary and call for peace reflect his hope for a favorable outcome while acknowledging the essential role that harmony among Kenyans plays in the nation’s development.
