Super Metro tout, Gerald Mwangi Njoroge, also known as "Makanga Bae," descended into chaos after his family accused some of his friends of embezzling money meant for his burial.
The burial, held at Mwangi's family home, took an unexpected turn when tensions escalated between his friends and family, disrupting the solemn event.
During the ceremony, a family member took the microphone and accused some of Gerald’s friends of disrespecting his memory.
He expressed disappointment, stating that the burial had become a disgrace because of the behavior of these individuals.
"Watu hawa wote wametukosea kama family. Hatukutaka kuzika ndugu yetu vile munamuona yuko," the relative remarked, criticizing the way the burial was conducted.
The situation worsened when Gerald’s mother took the stage, tearfully accusing three of his close friends – Muturi, Kajuju, and Teddy – of stealing money meant for the burial arrangements.
According to her, Super Metro had contributed Ksh. 63,000, which was used to purchase funeral clothing and supplies.
However, the friends had promised to handle key expenses, including Ksh. 50,000 for a coffin and Ksh. 85,000 for food. To the family's dismay, neither food nor water was provided at the event.
Visibly distressed, Gerald’s mother said, "I haven’t been sleeping, but it’s okay. What a pity!" She accused the three friends of dishonesty and left them to face their actions.
The emotional toll on the family was so severe that Gerald’s mother revealed she had even contemplated suicide due to the stress caused by the disorganized funeral planning.
As the accusations mounted, the master of ceremonies tried to restore order, addressing the crowd and calling for calm.
However, the crowd’s dissatisfaction quickly grew louder, forcing him to change the tone of the event by leading a chorus of praise to defuse the situation.
The burial, intended to honor Gerald’s memory, instead highlighted deep-seated tensions and accusations of betrayal.
Despite the chaos, the family urged everyone to focus on remembering Gerald and giving him the respect he deserved.
