CS Hassan Joho’s Prediction About Rigathi Gachagua’s Political Downfall Comes True

On October 8, 2024, Kenya’s National Assembly made a historic decision when it voted to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. A total of 281 Members of Parliament (MPs) supported the motion to remove Gachagua from office, while 44 MPs voted against it.

This significant move marks a turning point in the country's political landscape, with many Kenyans revisiting an old prediction made by Hassan Joho, the current Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy.

Joho, who once served as the Governor of Mombasa, had predicted Gachagua’s downfall even before the 2022 general elections. A resurfaced video of him addressing a crowd during a campaign rally in Kiambu has now gone viral, drawing widespread attention as many are amazed at how accurately his words seem to have reflected the current situation.

In the video, Joho, while addressing a charged crowd in Kiambu, boldly claimed that President William Ruto had a strategic plan when he chose Gachagua as his running mate. According to Joho, the choice of Gachagua was purely tactical to secure votes from the Mt. Kenya region. Joho warned that Ruto had no long-term plans for Gachagua and would discard him once they won the election.

Joho went further to say that Gachagua’s time as Deputy President would be short-lived. He claimed that Ruto’s ultimate plan involved having Gachagua imprisoned once they had taken power and then replacing him with someone who was not from the Mt. Kenya region. In his speech, Joho said, “Ruto has chosen Gachagua because he knows it will get him the Mt. Kenya vote, but once he is in power, Gachagua will be out of the picture.”

This statement, made over two years ago, has now taken on a whole new meaning as Gachagua faces removal from office following the vote by MPs.

With Gachagua’s impeachment process making headlines, Joho’s words are now being viewed as more than just political rhetoric. Social media platforms have been flooded with discussions and comments about how accurately Joho’s prediction matches the current situation. Many users are now referring to Joho as a “prophet” due to his prediction coming true.

One user commented, “Joho saw this coming from a mile away. It’s crazy how things have unfolded exactly as he said.” Another user added, “Joho must have had inside information; this can’t just be a coincidence.”

The video has been widely shared, with many people remarking on Joho’s foresight. Some even joked that Joho might have had a hand in planning the current events, while others were simply amazed by how everything had come full circle.

As Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment now moves to the Senate for a final decision, his political future looks uncertain. Gachagua, who has been a key figure in the Kenya Kwanza government, now finds himself at the center of a major political storm. While some believe that the impeachment is part of a larger scheme orchestrated by President Ruto, others see it as a reflection of Gachagua’s leadership style and challenges.

It is also worth noting that lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has cautioned President Ruto about forgiving Gachagua. According to Ahmednasir, the issues surrounding Gachagua’s impeachment are not personal and should be addressed without sympathy. Gachagua, on his part, has publicly pleaded for forgiveness, both from the President and the MPs, but it remains to be seen how these events will unfold.

Joho’s prediction has not only ignited discussions about Gachagua’s future but has also raised questions about the broader political dynamics in Kenya. Some political analysts believe that Joho’s words reflect a well-orchestrated plan by Ruto to consolidate power and control the political landscape. If Gachagua’s impeachment goes through, it could set the stage for Ruto to appoint a new Deputy President, possibly shifting the political balance in Kenya.

Moreover, Joho’s rise from Mombasa Governor to a Cabinet Secretary in Ruto’s government has also drawn attention. Despite being a vocal critic of Ruto during the campaign period, Joho now serves in his Cabinet, showing how quickly political alliances can shift.
