"He Told Us To Eat Anything" Kenyan Lady Shares Being Duped By Congolese Man on First Date, Left with This Amount Of Restaurant Bill

A Kenyan lady, Vanessa Grace, recently shared her experience on TikTok about how she and her friend were tricked by a Congolese man during their first meeting.

The incident occurred at Yaya Centre in Kilimani, where the man initially approached them under the guise of a business opportunity.

This story has since gone viral, with many people discussing the dos and don’ts of first dates, especially when meeting strangers.

Vanessa explained that she and her friend were at Yaya Centre to visit a pharmacy when a well-dressed, eloquent Congolese man approached them.

He introduced himself as a friend of a top Kenyan politician, specifically the deputy president, and made the conversation lively with humorous stories.

His friendly nature and the mention of political connections led them to exchange numbers, and soon after, he invited them to a business meeting.

When the time came to meet, the man suggested they meet at a popular hotel in Hurlingham. However, he later changed the venue to a different location.

Vanessa, who had accompanied her friend to this meeting, said they had to wait for an hour before the man finally arrived. Upon arrival, he acted generously, telling them to order whatever they wanted from the menu.

As they enjoyed their meal, the man excused himself, pretending to take an important phone call. Moments later, he vanished, leaving Vanessa and her friend with a hefty KSh 7,500 bill.

Despite his promise to pay the bill, he never returned, and the two ladies were forced to cover the cost of the meal themselves.

Vanessa said the man later sent a message claiming he got too busy and had to rush off, but he never sent the money as promised.

The video has sparked numerous reactions from Kenyan women who shared their own similar experiences.

Many pointed out that the man’s mention of having influential political friends should have been a warning sign.

One commenter noted that anyone who brags about knowing powerful people during a first encounter is often trying to deceive.

Others offered advice, including being cautious when strangers approach with business proposals, especially in public places like Yaya Centre.

Some also emphasized the importance of always being financially prepared when going out on a date to avoid embarrassing situations.
