Murang'a MP Hon. Betty Maina has recently released a statement regarding the ongoing efforts to remove Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from his position.
In her message, Maina commended Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah for the progress made in this endeavor, attributing it to divine guidance.
She stated, "Leader of Majority Kimani Ichung’wah... The far we've come, the Lord has been our Ebenezer. Hon. Kimani is a national leader."
Maina's remarks have sparked a variety of reactions among Kenyans online. Some users questioned the level of animosity directed at Gachagua, despite his significant electoral support just two years ago.
One commenter, Githinji, expressed confusion, asking, "How can a leader be hated this much after being voted overwhelmingly just two years ago?"
Meanwhile, others, such as Davie Karanja, predicted potential political fallout for Gachagua in the near future.
The responses also highlighted the existing divisions within the political landscape of the Central region.
While some residents criticized Maina and Ichung’wah, with Miner G. Paul labeling them disparagingly, others like Kabaiku praised them as advocates for "issues-based politics."
The public discourse underscores a growing discontent among certain political factions, with Gachagua’s critics actively voicing their desire for a change in leadership.
However, with elections still a few years away, the longevity and impact of this movement remain uncertain.
