"Leta Simu Nikutolee Password" Emotional Migori Mum Narrates How She Helplessly Saw Her Daughter Die After This Happened

In Kanyamkago Village, located in Uriri Sub-County, Migori County, the community is mourning the loss of 14-year-old Mitchelle Candy Okoth, a cherished student of Sibuoche Junior Secondary School.

Fondly known as Candy, she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just nine years old, facing years of challenging health struggles that both she and her family bravely navigated.

Throughout these difficulties, Candy’s vibrant spirit endeared her to family, friends, and classmates, making her loss a heartbreaking reality for those who loved her.

Candy’s journey with diabetes began dramatically. Shortly after her diagnosis, she fell into a coma, which marked the beginning of significant changes in her family’s daily life as they adjusted to managing her condition.

Despite these hardships, Candy’s resilience and strong personality stood out, giving hope to those around her.

By mid-August, Candy’s health began to show worrying signs of decline. On August 18, her elder sister noticed her worsening condition and quickly alerted their father.

Without delay, the family rushed Candy to a nearby hospital in Migori, where doctors placed her on oxygen in an attempt to stabilize her.

Despite the medical team’s best efforts, her blood sugar levels remained alarmingly high, creating a life-threatening situation.

Candy’s family held onto hope as doctors fought to bring her back to health, yet her condition continued to deteriorate.

In a touching moment during her hospitalization, Candy shared a special moment with her mother, changing her phone’s password and entrusting it to her.

This small but meaningful act left her mother with a lasting memory, reflecting the closeness between them.

However, as her health declined further, doctors moved Candy to the Intensive Care Unit due to diabetic ketoacidosis, a dangerous complication of Type 1 diabetes.

In a last effort to save her life, plans were made to transfer Candy to Eldoret for emergency dialysis.

Tragically, she passed away before the transfer could take place, leaving her family and community devastated.
