During a speech on Friday night in Lodwar, President William Ruto addressed his former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, urging him to show love and respect to all tribes and regions in Kenya.
Ruto emphasized that Gachagua's current approach of focusing only on his own community could lead to resentment among other Kenyans.
He warned that if Gachagua continues to speak mainly about his native people and ignores others, he risks becoming unpopular.
Ruto stated, “I want to urge my former DP that you must learn to love one another and treat other people the same way you are treating people from your home background if you want to survive in this country.”
His message highlighted the need for unity and understanding among the diverse cultures that make up the nation.
Ruto believes that for Kenya to move forward as a united country, leaders must promote inclusivity and demonstrate care for all communities.
In his address, the president also expressed his personal feelings toward Gachagua, reassuring him that he does not have any evil plans against him.
Ruto affirmed his intention to bring Gachagua back to the State House to support Kithure Kindiki, indicating that he still values their partnership.
This statement suggests that Ruto wants to maintain a strong relationship with Gachagua despite the political challenges they may face.
Ruto further emphasized the importance of respect among Kenyans, stating that there should be no favoritism based on tribal lines.
He urged citizens to learn to respect one another, regardless of their backgrounds. By fostering an environment of mutual respect, Ruto believes that the nation can overcome its differences and work towards a common goal of development and progress.
The president’s remarks come at a time when tribal divisions in politics can lead to conflict and misunderstanding.
