Winnie and her husband, Bernard Achebe, got married in 2018. Despite their love and commitment to each other, they struggled to conceive a child.
As the years went by, pressure began to mount from family and friends, who frequently questioned their inability to start a family.
Winnie, who is a pastor along with her husband, often counseled others about family matters and prayed for many couples who were blessed with children.
However, she felt the weight of expectations on her shoulders as they remained childless. In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Winnie revealed her emotional journey and the challenges she faced during this time.
She shared that she tried various medical treatments to help her conceive, but nothing seemed to work.
She discovered that her fallopian tubes were closed, and she also had fibroids, which complicated her situation.
The pressure from society and family became overwhelming. Winnie recalled painful moments when relatives would question her womanhood, saying, "If I was a woman like other women, why didn’t I give birth?"
Such hurtful comments left her feeling isolated and heartbroken. She thought her family would support her during this difficult time, but instead, they added to her struggles.
In one instance, after a disagreement with her cousins about transportation, the conversation shifted to her inability to conceive, which deeply upset her.
In her darkest moments, Winnie sought solace in prayer. She even left her husband to spend time praying to God, pleading for a child. Despite feeling like giving up, she held onto her faith.
That same year, after six years of waiting, Winnie finally received the blessing she had longed for—she conceived.
