"Nobody Elected You" Tensions Rise in KK Govt as CS Duale Hits Back at DP Gachagua As Fallout Escalates

Tensions are growing within the Kenya Kwanza administration as Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale publicly criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. This criticism came on Monday amid allegations against Gachagua and concerns about his conduct.

Duale accused Gachagua of trying to win public sympathy with his defense against various accusations. He called Gachagua's comments a “decoy to play to the public gallery.” Duale took particular issue with Gachagua's assertion that he was elected by the people.

“Despite the show this evening, tomorrow we will know in black and white the truth. It is quite unfortunate to see a person who became deputy president due to being nominated by the president as a running mate claim that he was elected by 7.2 million Kenyans,” Duale stated.

This exchange follows Gachagua’s recent dismissals of allegations made against him through a special motion by members of the National Assembly.
Speaking from his residence in Karen, Nairobi, Gachagua described the 11 claims as bogus propaganda. He argued that the impeachment motion is merely a political tactic aimed at removing him from office, unrelated to any wrongdoing.

In response to the accusations of poor public engagement, Duale firmly denied these claimsm and pointed out that no court had ordered a halt to the ongoing processes. He emphasized that Kenyans have plenty of opportunities to voice their opinions regarding the special motion against Gachagua.

Duale declared that the decision to impeach Gachagua had already been made, and no amount of controversy would change that. He highlighted that Gachagua's comments about the government would not prevent the impeachment process from moving forward.
On the other hand, Gachagua rejected rumors about possibly resigning from his position. He expressed confidence that he would receive justice and continue to perform his duties effectively, despite the challenges he faces.
