Tony Sherman and Kendi, known as the "Maandamano Couple," have recently announced their breakup, just two months after their much-publicized wedding.
The couple became famous after meeting during anti-government protests in June 2024.
Their love story captured attention as they got engaged just three weeks after meeting and later tied the knot in a public ceremony on the busy streets of Nairobi in August.
The couple's wedding was officiated by comedian Mchungaji and took place in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), attracting many onlookers.
Tony, the groom, wore a white African outfit with a matching headpiece, while Kendi looked stunning in her white wedding gown. The ceremony stood out not only because of its public setting but also for the love story behind it.
However, despite the happy start, the couple has now gone their separate ways. Tony revealed in an interview that their relationship began to deteriorate recently.
He mentioned that Kendi started disrespecting him, and they eventually broke up on October 14, 2024.
He also expressed his pain, sharing how much he had invested in the relationship both emotionally and financially.
After their wedding, the couple moved in together, and Tony even had to cover all the honeymoon expenses as promised financial support from others never came through.
Tony, a 28-year-old content creator, shared that both his and Kendi’s mothers attended their wedding, and everything seemed fine initially.
However, things quickly changed, leading to their separation. Kendi confirmed the breakup on her Facebook account, where she referred to their relationship as "attachment" and admitted that they were no longer together.
Tony, heartbroken by the sudden end of the marriage, shared that he’s not in a hurry to jump into another relationship.
He mentioned that although Kendi apologized for what happened, he had already made up his mind to move on. For now, he wants to focus on his work and take a break from dating to heal from the heartbreak.
