"We Won't Forget" Gachagua Breathes Fire, Sends This Warning To Ruto On Impeachment During Kiambu Church Service

On October 27, 2024, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua delivered a powerful message to President William Ruto during a church service at Saint James ACK Cathedral in Kiambu County.

Gachagua, who was recently ousted from his position, warned Ruto that the people of the Mt Kenya region would not forget how the plot to impeach him was organized.

He stated, “We forgive but we don’t forget,” highlighting that past grievances still affect the community.

Gachagua's speech came after weeks of intense political battles, including conflicts in the National Assembly, Senate, and ongoing court cases related to his impeachment.

Despite the stress of these events, he seemed calm as he spoke to his supporters in the church.

He emphasized that, while he would eventually reveal what transpired leading up to his impeachment, he would remain quiet for now.

In his address, Gachagua urged Kenyans to pray for President Ruto. He acknowledged the difficulties the President faces and called for wisdom to navigate the challenges affecting the country.

Gachagua mentioned several pressing issues, such as high taxes, economic struggles, and a failing health system, which have left many Kenyans feeling helpless.

He expressed concern that the President has a significant responsibility to address these problems and provide relief for the citizens.

During the service, Gachagua was accompanied by allies, including Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang'wa, who showed their support.

The ousted Deputy President’s political future is uncertain, and he is currently relying on a court decision to determine whether he can reclaim his position.

Recently, a three-judge panel ruled against Gachagua's request to have the judges recuse themselves from the impeachment case.

On the other hand, President Ruto has been cautious about discussing Gachagua’s situation publicly. In a recent speech, he denounced what he termed “divisive politics” and stressed the importance of unity among Kenyans.

His comments suggested that there are deeper issues within his government that need to be addressed.
