The tragic event took place in Mwea West, and the police have arrested Mugendi, who is currently being held at Kiamaciri police station.
The incident unfolded when John Mugendi, a bodaboda operator based in Kagio town, became enraged after suspecting his wife of infidelity.
According to local reports, Mugendi was seen searching for his wife, armed with a hammer.
He confronted her over the alleged affair, leading to an intense argument. During this heated exchange, Mugendi, visibly agitated, attacked his wife with a kitchen knife, killing her.
Obadiah Gatimu, a local resident, witnessed the events unfold. He recalled that Mugendi had expressed his anger, accusing his wife of being unfaithful.
"He told us that his wife was having an affair, only for him to kill her moments later," said Gatimu.
The community was in disbelief as the situation quickly escalated, ending in the tragic death of Catherine Wanjiku.
Wanja Mwangi, the mother of the deceased, was devastated when she learned of her daughter’s death.
Mwangi, who had been close to her daughter for many years, could not believe her eyes when she saw Catherine's lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.
Catherine, who had been married to Mugendi for over 14 years, was a mother to three children. The family is now left to mourn the loss of a loving mother and wife.
Following the stabbing, the suspect, John Mugendi, was confronted by an angry mob. The local residents, enraged by the horrific act, attacked Mugendi, leaving him seriously injured.
He was later rescued by the police and taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities have stated that he will be hospitalized before he is transferred to court to face charges for the murder of his wife.
