Kiambu: Couple Dies In Alleged Suicide, Their 1-year-old Infant Found Sitting Beside Her Dead Mum

In Kiambu County, a couple was found dead in what police suspect to be a case of double suicide. 

The incident occurred in the Karinde area, where the bodies of the couple were discovered on Sunday, November 18, 2024. 

The man was found hanging by an electricity cable, while his wife was lying on the floor. 

The young couple’s infant, about one and a half years old, was found abandoned beside the deceased mother, creating a deeply emotional scene.

The authorities believe the man, identified as Reuben Ndede, may have taken his wife’s life before ending his own. 

Police officers who arrived at the scene reported that the man’s body was found hanging, and the woman’s lifeless body was lying on the floor, leading them to suspect a murder-suicide scenario. 

While police were able to confirm the identity of the man through an ID card found in his pocket, the woman’s identity remains unknown. 

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are trying to identify the woman and determine the exact circumstances surrounding the couple’s deaths.

The discovery of the bodies was made by police officers after a call was made to report the incident.

 Upon arrival, they found the scene distressing, with the young child lying next to the deceased mother. 

The infant was immediately taken to Mutuini Hospital for medical attention. Thankfully, the child was not physically harmed, but the emotional trauma of being left alone in such a tragic situation is significant. 

The child’s future now remains uncertain, as the couple's deaths have left the infant without both parents.

Following the discovery, police took the bodies to the Nairobi City Morgue for postmortem examinations. 

These examinations will help to confirm the exact cause of death and provide more information for the ongoing investigation. 

Authorities are looking into whether there were any warning signs leading up to this incident, such as relationship struggles or other emotional factors that may have contributed to the deaths. 

They are also working to understand whether the incident was linked to any external pressures or mental health issues that might have influenced the couple’s actions.
