A Kenyan family is mourning the untimely death of their beloved daughter, Zipporah Nyanchama, who passed away in the United States just one year after relocating there.
Zipporah, who was living in New York, died from a short illness before she could fully settle into her new life. She leaves behind a four-year-old son and a grieving family back home in Kisii County.
The family is struggling not only with the emotional pain of losing Zipporah but also with the financial burden of bringing her body back to Kenya.
They need to raise KSh 1.2 million to cover the costs of repatriating her remains for burial.
Without this money, Zipporah may have to be buried in the U.S., far from her home and loved ones.
Zipporah’s sister, Grace Kerubo, spoke to the media, sharing the family’s shock and sorrow over her sudden death.
She explained that the family is facing significant challenges, both emotionally and financially, as they try to give their sister a proper burial in Kenya.
Grace appealed to the public for help, urging everyone, near and far, to contribute towards the costly process of bringing Zipporah’s body home.
The family has set up a fundraising campaign, and they are hopeful that with the help of kind-hearted individuals, they will be able to raise the necessary funds.
“Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to fulfilling Zipporah’s final wish of being laid to rest in her homeland,” Grace said.
Zipporah’s death has left her family devastated. They are finding it hard to cope with the sudden loss of a loved one, especially after the long journey she had undertaken to start a new life in the United States.
Her son, who is now without his mother, is another source of deep sorrow for the family.
