"Kumbe Mtoto Sio Wetu" Confusion As Family Is Forced to Exhume Kin's Body Buried For 57 Days, Reason Revealed

A family in Tanzania recently discovered that the body they buried 57 days ago was not that of their loved one.

The family of Richard Shoo, who tragically passed away in June, believed they had laid him to rest.

However, DNA tests have since revealed that the body they buried belonged to another man, Joseph Jackson. This revelation has left Shoo's family seeking answers and grappling with disbelief.

Richard Shoo, a 31-year-old resident of Kibosho Kindi Village in Moshi District, Kilimanjaro region, was reportedly killed and found in tragic circumstances in mid-June.

His family last saw him in May and assumed he was visiting friends. When they received the devastating news of his death, they identified a body at the mortuary as Shoo’s and proceeded with his burial on June 25.

The family believed they had properly identified him and performed all necessary rites to say their final goodbyes.

However, weeks later, unsettling questions began to surface. Following requests for verification, a DNA test was conducted, which revealed that the body in the grave was actually that of Jackson, a different individual.

Shocked and distraught, Shoo's family was compelled to exhume the body after nearly two months, hoping for a different outcome.

Despite the DNA evidence, they continue to doubt the test results, insisting that they could not have buried someone other than their beloved Richard.

The case has drawn public attention, sparking conversations on identification procedures for deceased individuals.

Acting Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander Abel Mtagwa has acknowledged the incident and requested time to investigate further before releasing official details.

This tragic mix-up is not an isolated case. In Kenya, a similar situation occurred in Meru County, where a family buried what they thought was their son, only for him to return home a week after his ‘funeral.’

The incident led to shock and confusion, as the family began to question whom they had actually buried.
