"Mungu Awape Nguvu" Tears Flow Freely As Family Picks Body Of Moi University Student Who Drowned With Friend

Christicos Otieno, a second-year student at Moi University, tragically drowned in a quarry along with his friend during an excursion two weeks ago.

The incident has left his family, friends, and university community in deep sorrow.

Otieno and his friend, Wyclief, were part of a group of six students who had gone for a nature walk when they stumbled upon a quarry with a pool of water.

What started as a fun and exciting day took a tragic turn when Otieno and Wyclief decided to swim in the water.

The two friends dived in, but the water proved to be much deeper than expected, and they sank into the mud.

Their bodies did not resurface, and the remaining friends, who were recording the moments on their phones, were left in shock and fear.

Otieno's body was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary, where it lay for two weeks before being transported to his home in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County.

Family, friends, and Moi University comrades gathered at the hospital to mourn his untimely death.

Gabriel Okola, a high school teacher and a former campus mate, shared the painful details of the incident.

Okola described Otieno as a kind-hearted person with a warm personality, well-liked by many of his peers.

He was also the only child of his parents, and his death has devastated them, leaving them heartbroken.

The tragic loss has left a void not only for his family but also for those who knew him.

Otieno was known for his gentle nature, and his sudden passing has reminded everyone of how fragile life can be.

His classmates and university mates, both past and present, expressed their grief as they accompanied his body to his final resting place.
