"Shule Nitashughulikia" Gathoni Wamuchomba Meets JKIA Boy, Promises To Educate Him

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba met with Henry Omondi, the young boy who became a viral sensation during the July 2024 protests.

The meeting took place at a hotel, where the politician and Omondi shared a light moment, with Wamuchomba adjusting the boy’s outfit to ensure he was comfortable.

This meeting marked the beginning of a promising relationship as the MP promised to support Omondi in several ways.

Omondi, who gained widespread attention during the protests, had raised concerns about the government’s alleged plans to sell Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to an Indian firm.

His bold stand against the privatization sparked a lot of conversations, and soon after, the public became aware of his situation.

Despite his bravery, Omondi had dropped out of school, and many were concerned about his future.

However, Wamuchomba, who was impressed by Omondi's sharp mind and fluent English, expressed a strong desire to assist him.

“I couldn’t believe it when he told me where he dropped out of school.

He speaks fluent English and is very sharp and smart,” Wamuchomba said passionately during the meeting.

She assured Omondi that she would take care of his education, adding that she would help him enroll back into school.

The MP also promised to buy him new clothes and a laptop for his studies, highlighting her commitment to ensuring he has a bright future.

As the meeting progressed, Wamuchomba emphasized her role as a mother figure to Omondi in Nairobi, while acknowledging that his biological mother resides in Siaya County.

She said, “I know you have a mother in Siaya county, but I am your mother here, and these are your family members,” referring to the team around her.

Omondi, who had previously received support from comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi, expressed his gratitude to both Eric and Wamuchomba.

He shared his excitement about returning to school and continuing his studies, with Wamuchomba pledging to ensure his education is well-supported.
