"That's Not Fair, Don't Blame Him For Things Uhuru Failed To Do- Sakaja Defends Ruto, Says 2 Years Is Too Soon For Blames

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja recently appealed to Kenyans to exercise patience with President William Ruto, stressing that significant changes require time.

Speaking at St. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church in Soweto, Sakaja emphasized that Ruto has only been in office for two years and should be given more time to fulfill his commitments.

Sakaja pointed out that previous presidents also took years to complete major projects.

He referenced former President Mwai Kibaki, who constructed Thika Road in his fifth year, and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, who completed the Nairobi Expressway during his ninth year in office.

"Let us be patient," Sakaja said, "It’s not fair to expect Ruto to fix everything in just two years when some issues have been around for decades."

One of the major concerns he highlighted was the long-awaited construction of the Mau Mau Road in Murang'a County.

Sakaja shared that residents in the area had complained about the road being neglected for over 60 years.

He argued that four presidents have come and gone without addressing the road’s condition, yet now the blame falls on Ruto after only two years in office.

He questioned whether it is fair to expect such long-standing issues to be resolved instantly.

The governor also mentioned that there is often confusion about which roads fall under national versus county government responsibility.

This distinction, he explained, is essential for Kenyans to understand so they can know whom to hold accountable.

Sakaja hopes that President Ruto will clarify which roads are under county jurisdiction, which could reduce misunderstandings and improve public expectations.

Meanwhile, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, who also attended the service, expressed his support for the Catholic church and commended President Ruto's efforts.

Ichung’wah assured Kenyans that, despite their desire for quick results, MPs will continue to push the president to deliver on his promises.

He emphasized that the government is committed to transforming Kenyans' lives, noting that the public has high hopes for Ruto’s administration.

During the service, a touching moment occurred when a woman interrupted Sakaja’s speech to share her struggles.
