VIDEO: Gachagua Sheds Tears As Kirinyaga Locals Promise To Stand By Him, Netizens React

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recently received a warm and emotional welcome from locals in Kabare, Kirinyaga County, as he attended the funeral service of his friend Hannah Wanjiru Munyi.

Accompanied by his wife, Dorcas, Gachagua entered Kiamwathi Anglican Church surrounded by singing and cheering residents.

The community’s heartfelt show of solidarity and encouragement during his visit appeared to touch Gachagua deeply, as he struggled to hold back his tears.

Throughout the event, Kirinyaga locals expressed their commitment to stand by Gachagua during what they described as a difficult moment in his political journey.

As he greeted the crowd, residents cheered him on, calling him a “blessed man” and proclaiming that no one could curse him.

Their support was not only loud but also symbolic, as many felt that Gachagua’s recent impeachment was an unjust act orchestrated by political forces within the Kenya Kwanza government.

This gesture of backing from the locals seemed to provide Gachagua with a sense of relief and encouragement in his ongoing battle.

In response to the overwhelming support, Gachagua urged the Members of Parliament to prioritize essential bills, specifically mentioning the Coffee Bill 2023 and the Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, which have been awaiting parliamentary approval for over a year.

He noted with frustration that while his impeachment process was completed swiftly, these crucial bills have yet to receive the same level of urgency from lawmakers.

Gachagua emphasized that the Coffee Bill, in particular, holds great importance for the people of Kirinyaga and surrounding regions, who rely on coffee farming for their livelihoods.

The former deputy president further urged MPs to expedite the legislative process so that these bills could be gazetted and presented to President William Ruto for final approval.

Gachagua’s message was clear: he wanted lawmakers to put the same speed and effort into serving the nation’s interests as they had demonstrated in advancing his impeachment.
