Salima Saidi, who has lived in the house for most of her life, was thrown out by her grandchildren, leaving her devastated.
Saidi explained that she moved into the house when she married her husband 65 years ago, long before any of her grandchildren were born.
She built the home with him and stayed there even after his death. Over the years, her brothers-in-law took care of her and ensured the house was protected.
She had lived peacefully in the home, raising her children and enjoying the support of her late husband's family.
However, the situation changed when her grandchildren decided to evict her. Salima said that her brothers-in-law had always respected her, but now, she was being forced out by her own grandchildren, with the exception of one who is defending her.
She could not understand why they would do such a thing, as she had been part of the family for decades.
The reason behind the eviction is a land dispute that has been ongoing in the courts. Asha Mfaume, one of Saidi’s granddaughters, explained that there is a legal case concerning the ownership of the land.
She mentioned that the family had been involved in the case for some time and that they even had a letter preventing her eviction.
However, her cousins went ahead and opened a new case without involving the rest of the family. A judgment was made, which led to the eviction, and Asha felt the process was unfair.
The story of Salima Saidi’s eviction has sparked mixed reactions from the public. Many are sympathetic to the elderly woman’s situation, with some criticizing her grandchildren for their actions. Others have pointed out that the dispute over land and inheritance is a common issue in many families.
