Kenyan content creator Bernice Saroni recently addressed accusations made by a TikTok user, who claimed that Saroni had been encouraging women, including Edday Nderitu and Sarah Mtalii, to leave their husbands.
The accusation, which came from a TikTok user named @salomenjeri77, suggested that Saroni was trying to expand her social circle by advising these women to divorce their spouses.
The TikTok user specifically pointed to Saroni’s alleged role in influencing Edday Nderitu to divorce her husband, Samidoh Muchoki, after relocating to the United States.
Saroni, however, vehemently denied the claims and called out the netizen for spreading false information.
In an emotional response, she explained her own personal experience as a single mother, stating that she had once been married and prayed for a happy family.
She emphasized that her situation changed unexpectedly, leading her to become a single mother and raise her children alone.
Saroni questioned why married women often stigmatize single mothers and reminded them that marriage can change at any time, as even those who think they have secure marriages may suddenly find themselves facing divorce.
In her response, Saroni urged people, particularly married women, to be more compassionate towards single mothers and avoid making judgments about their situations.
She expressed that it hurt her deeply when married women belittle single mothers, as she knows firsthand how challenging it can be to raise children on your own.
Saroni also warned that life’s uncertainties mean that anyone could face a marriage breakdown, even those in seemingly stable relationships.
“Be careful with your words,” she said, adding that she had forgiven the netizen for her hurtful remarks.
Furthermore, Saroni shared her thoughts on the dynamics of single motherhood, advising other single mothers to allow their children’s fathers to remain involved in their lives.
She discouraged unnecessary drama with baby daddies and emphasized the importance of cooperation when it comes to raising children together.
Saroni also cautioned single mothers to respect their ex-partners’ privacy and avoid being overly inquisitive about their personal lives.
While Saroni’s comments on the issue garnered support from some followers, others questioned the nature of her advice.
