In Kisii County, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a 22-year-old security guard and the theft of alcohol valued at KSh 26,000.
The incident occurred on November 26, 2024, at Engako Bar, located in Nyachenge Trading Centre.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the three suspects ambushed the security guard, who was stationed at the bar.
They attacked him with crude weapons, leaving him severely injured. As the victim bled out, the gang stole alcohol worth KSh 26,000 from the bar and disappeared.
The three suspects, identified as Festus Odhiambo (31), Thomas Momanyi Omenta (31), and Grace Kerubo Oseko (26), were arrested after a thorough investigation by DCI detectives.
Odhiambo, also known as Arum, was the first to be apprehended after an intelligence-led operation that led investigators to his home in Migori County.
At his residence, detectives found blood-stained clothes, which provided key evidence linking him to the crime.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the other two suspects, Omenta and Oseko, who were located in Kisii Township.
A mobile phone belonging to the deceased was recovered from Omenta, further strengthening the case against the suspects.
During questioning, the suspects revealed that they had been at Engako Bar earlier on the night of the murder, which helped investigators piece together the events.
The suspects were positively identified by regular customers at the bar during an identification parade.
Witnesses confirmed that the three had been seen at the bar on the fateful night and were among those involved in the crime.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had ambushed the guard, beaten him with crude weapons, and then looted the bar.
The case has shocked the local community, and the suspects are currently in police custody at Nyamarambe Police Station.
The DCI has promised to continue with their investigation to ensure that justice is served for the slain guard and the stolen goods.
