Captured on video, the scene unfolded along a pedestrian walkway, where a group of young men had gathered to watch their friend perform a skating stunt.
The video begins with an elderly woman walking past the group. She is dressed in a red and black outfit, moving calmly along the footpath.
One of the boys behind the camera can be heard saying, "Grandma, please move a little."
Despite the warning, she continues on her way, seemingly unaware of the situation.
At the other end of the walkway, the skater begins his run, picking up speed as he aims to jump over a shoe placed as an obstacle.
Another voice from the group warns, “Please move to the side. The way this guy is coming, he might hit you.”
The skater manages to clear the shoe but loses control immediately after landing.
He crashes into the elderly woman, sending both of them tumbling to the ground. Her shoe flies off from the impact, and one of the boys in the group exclaims, “Ghai!"
The video has sparked outrage across various social media platforms.
Many Kenyans expressed their disappointment and anger at the group’s reckless behavior.
“You’re asking her to move, but she might not even understand what you’re saying,” one user commented, questioning the group’s approach to the situation.
Another said, “If that were my mother, there would be consequences for such disrespect.”
Others criticized the boys for prioritizing entertainment over the safety of others.
One person noted, “This is how elders curse you. Be careful.” Another sarcastically remarked, “And they’re bringing city antics to the village.”
The incident has reignited conversations about respect for the elderly and the misuse of public spaces.
Some social media users called for the young men to apologize to the elderly woman, while others suggested stricter rules to prevent similar occurrences.
