Former NTV health and science reporter Eunice Omollo has officially joined K24 TV, marking a new chapter in her journalism career.
A close colleague, who shared the news but chose to remain anonymous, revealed that Omollo started her new role on Monday, December 16, 2024.
Omollo’s journey to this point has been anything but easy. The award-winning journalist, known for her expertise in health reporting, has battled bipolar disorder for over 19 years.
Earlier this year, she made headlines when she opened up about her struggles, including financial hardships that nearly led to her eviction. She also revealed the urgent need for medication to manage her condition.
In May, Omollo deactivated most of her social media accounts as she sought to prioritize her mental health. During this period, she appealed to the public for support, shedding light on the challenges faced by individuals living with mental health conditions.
Despite these difficulties, Omollo’s resilience has been remarkable. According to her colleague, she is optimistic and excited about this new opportunity.
“She is in high spirits. Indeed, the God of second chances has come through for her. Thanks to all for prayers and support,” the source shared.
Omollo first rose to prominence as a health reporter at NTV, where her work earned her significant recognition. In 2021, she won the Africa Media Health Network Best TV and Health Reporting AFP Award for her insightful coverage of mental health issues.
Her reporting during the Covid-19 pandemic was particularly impactful, addressing sensitive topics with depth and compassion.
At one point, however, the pressures of her work led her close to a suicidal attempt, a struggle she later shared publicly. Her candid disclosure served to highlight the importance of mental health awareness and the need for robust support systems for individuals in high-stress professions.
While her exact role at K24 TV has not been disclosed, her colleagues and supporters are optimistic about her contributions to the station.
