A Kiambu family is experiencing relief and joy after their daughter, Maxine Tabitha Njoroge, was found safe after a week-long disappearance.
Maxine, a 16-year-old student at Loreto Limuru High School, went missing on Wednesday, December 11, after leaving the house to take out the garbage.
She failed to return home, and her family was left in distress, wondering where she had gone.
Maxine’s disappearance left her family in anguish, especially her mother, Jecinta, who had no idea where her daughter had gone.
Jecinta shared that Maxine had taken the keys to the house gate with her, making it even more concerning as the hours and days passed.
The family reached out to the authorities and community members in a desperate search for Maxine.
Finally, on Thursday, December 18, Maxine was located at the Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) in Westlands, Nairobi, where the sub-county children's department had assisted in reuniting them.
Jecinta expressed immense relief upon hearing the news that her daughter had been found.
"She is well and safe," Jecinta said. "We are grateful to everyone who prayed with us and helped in the search for her."
The emotional reunion brought joy to the family, who had spent sleepless nights worrying about Maxine’s safety.
Jecinta acknowledged that the support they received from well-wishers played a crucial role in their search.
"It has not been easy every day and night wondering where she is, but we thank God she is with us," she added, expressing gratitude to those who had helped.
Maxine’s safe return was a source of immense joy for the family, who are now looking forward to putting the frightening experience behind them.
The case also follows another similar incident in Kiambu, where Daisy Wanjiku returned home after being missing for nearly four months, claiming she had been working as a housekeeper in Kileleshwa.
