Benedict, who studied at KMTC Kitale campus, was fatally stabbed by his girlfriend during an argument, shattering the dreams of a young man who was just days away from graduating.
His mother, Gladys Kipkorir, painfully recounted the events leading up to the discovery of her son’s death.
She was at work when she received a call urging her to rush to Cherangany Hospital Mortuary.
Initially, the caller only mentioned that Benedict had been injured, leaving Gladys anxious and uncertain about the severity of the situation. She could never have imagined that her son’s life had already been cut short.
“I was told to visit the hospital as soon as possible. When I asked what was wrong, I was informed that Kiptoo had been injured.
I did not understand how bad it was until I got there and learned that my son had been stabbed in the chest,” she said, her voice filled with anguish.
Benedict, described as a bright and determined young man, was preparing to graduate on December 5, 2024.
His mother had looked forward to witnessing his hard work pay off. However, the tragic incident robbed the family of their joy and left them in grief.
The stabbing reportedly occurred after a confrontation between Benedict and his girlfriend, a 24-year-old waitress.
Neighbors recalled hearing a commotion from the couple’s house. When they intervened, they found Benedict lying in a pool of blood.
A neighbor, who happened to be a doctor, tried to provide first aid before rushing him to the hospital. Unfortunately, Benedict was declared dead on arrival.
The police later arrived at the scene and recovered a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack.
Investigations revealed that the argument stemmed from a love triangle that escalated into violence. The girlfriend was taken into custody as authorities began their probe into the incident.
Gladys, accompanied by her family, visited the hospital mortuary to confirm the heartbreaking news.
“We found my son had been stabbed in the chest, and he was no more,” she tearfully recounted.
The family is now demanding justice, calling on the authorities to ensure that those responsible for Benedict’s death are held accountable.
